SPRINGETTSBURY TOWNSHIP, PA — A quiet Monday morning turned tragic when a single-vehicle rollover crash on Route 30 claimed the life of Timothy Frisby Jr., 61, of Wrightsville. The incident occurred near Mount Zion Road and has left the community mourning and officials urging renewed attention to roadway safety.
At approximately 9:36 a.m. on October 20, Frisby was driving eastbound in a Chevrolet pickup truck when the vehicle veered off the road, struck an electronic traffic sign, briefly returned to the highway, then exited again — ultimately flipping and landing on its roof in a grassy area.
Emergency responders from York Area United Fire & Rescue arrived swiftly and used mechanical tools to extricate Frisby, who was trapped inside the vehicle. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene by the York County Coroner’s Office.
The official cause of death was positional asphyxiation, and the manner was ruled accidental. Authorities confirmed that Frisby was not wearing a seatbelt, a detail that has reignited conversations around seatbelt use and driver safety on one of York County’s busiest corridors.
“It’s heartbreaking,” said one local resident who witnessed the aftermath. “Route 30 sees so much traffic — we need to do more to protect drivers.
No autopsy will be performed, but routine toxicology tests were taken as part of the investigation. The crash is being handled by Springettsbury Township Police, who are asking anyone with information to contact Cpl. Russell Schauer at (717) 757-3525.
Frisby’s death marks a somber moment for Wrightsville, where neighbors describe him as a quiet, hardworking man with deep ties to the area. Tributes are beginning to appear on social media, and local churches are planning a moment of silence in his honor.
