CARROLL TOWNSHIP, YORK COUNTY, PA — A man wanted on multiple felony warrants in Virginia and Florida remains at large after two failed police searches Monday evening, prompting temporary shelter-in-place orders and heightened concern across Carroll Township.
Christopher Rodriguez-Gonzalez, 27, was reportedly staying at a relative’s home on Chestnut Grove Road when Carroll Township Police received a tip about his location around 5:30 p.m. Officers arrived on scene, but Rodriguez-Gonzalez allegedly escaped through a rear window with assistance from a family member. That individual was later taken into custody for hindering apprehension, though police have not released their name or specific charges.
Rodriguez-Gonzalez is wanted in Northampton County, Virginia for felony hit-and-run, fleeing and eluding, and 16 counts of reckless driving. In Polk County, Florida, he faces charges of grand theft exceeding $750,000.
Following his escape, law enforcement issued a shelter-in-place advisory for residents near Chestnut Grove and South Fileys Road as K-9 units and aviation support combed the area. The search was called off after several hours without success.
Later that night, a homeowner on South York Road reported surveillance footage of a man matching Rodriguez-Gonzalez’s description. Police launched a second search and reissued the shelter-in-place order, but again, the suspect evaded capture.
As of Wednesday morning, Rodriguez-Gonzalez remains at large. Authorities believe he may have fled the immediate area, but the investigation is ongoing.
Carroll Township Police urge residents to remain vigilant and report any sightings or suspicious activity. “We’re asking the public to stay alert and help us bring this individual to justice,” said a department spokesperson.
The shelter-in-place orders have since been lifted, but the community remains on edge as the manhunt continues.
